Why is it so special?
I know there’s a lot of hype around the Nsale (short for Nordstrom Sale), but it really is like the superbowl of sales. A lot of sales only mark down items that are out of season or aren’t selling well, but the Nsale is specifically for new arrivals and high selling items. It can definitely be a bit overwhelming, so I’m going to share my picks for this year! It’s also a great time to get a sense of the big trends for fall.
How does it work?
Access is tiered, so the date you get to shop depends on what “level” you are. If you have a Nordstrom credit card you are considered an “Influencer”, and get to shop beginning Friday, July 16th. It opens to the public on Wednesday, July 28th. I do have a credit card, but I treat it more like a debit card and pay it off right away. Just FYI, they are not great about payment reminders, so keep this in mind if you do decide to get one. You also get “Notes” (basically Nordstrom cash) as rewards after spending a certain amount, and sometimes they give them out just for promotions. I’ve probably gotten close to $150 since I signed up last year, and I honestly don’t use it that often. Of course I would never advise to get a credit card just to shop the sale, but I did just want to highlight some of the perks.
My top tip?
Start a wishlist. This will help you keep track of everything you want, and easily add it to your bag once it’s available. It also helped me create a budget and decide which items were most important to me. You can start one right now, even if you can’t shop yet! Also I did want to note – even with the sale, a lot of these items are still on the pricey side. That is why I like to go in with a plan, and shop for the staple items I would have been shopping for anyway. Don’t feel obligated to buy anything just because it is on sale.
How big are the discounts?
Honestly, it depends! There is such a wide variety of things included in the sale that there is a pretty big range of discounts. Some things are 50% off (or maybe even a little higher!), some are less, but again, most are things that rarely go on sale, which is what makes it so special.
Will there be restocks?
YES! If you want something that has gone out of stock, refresh periodically! Nordstrom does random restocks all the time. I was able to get everything I wanted last year just by periodically checking back!
I’m going to start with the things I already have and love!
If you only get one item from the sale, this should be it! I love a good “look for less” option as much as anyone, but the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings are just one of those things I don’t think can be duplicated. I actually tried a less expensive faux leather legging option last year, and absolutely hated them. They are a fall and winter staple, and for the amount I wear them, I think they are well worth the price (especially on sale). They don’t go on sale too often!
I have literally been waiting all year for this blanket!! Does it sound crazy to spend over $100 for a blanket? Absolutely. I have a full post with my thoughts here. I always saw everyone saying it was worth the price and I couldn’t really understand until I got one for myself. It is the most comfortable blanket I’ve ever had! I had a smaller version, and I’m so excited to finally have the full sized version. I got the new rose color, but it comes in more neutral colors as well.
I would say these Ray Bans are my most worn sunglasses! The pair on sale is a different color, but I absolutely love the shape.
These are definitely a high contender with the Ray Bans! I know a lot of people actually prefer Quay, and these are such a good deal!
Now on to what I ordered this year! I tried to stick with basics that I would get a lot of use out of.
I have a pair of white adidas that are super worn down that I’ve been meaning to replace, so I was super excited to see these! The subtle leopard is such a pretty touch.
I absolutely loved these for fall! I also thought they would be perfect for work, or just a causal fall day. They come in a lot of colors (including a lot of great neutrals).
I couldn’t resist this fun pair of Quay glasses! I love the shape, and the tortoise pattern! They also come in black.
I had major regrets on not getting this flannel last year! It is literally one of the softest materials I’ve ever felt. It also has an oversized fit that I think is so flattering. You can wear it opened, buttoned, tucked or untucked, so it’s very versatile too.
How cool are these boots? I saw them and knew I had to have them for fall. The chain is such a unique touch! These also come in black.
I am still waiting for these AllSaints slides to come in, but they have amazing reviews! I thought these would make for a great summer basic to throw on for errands or casual days.
These Alo Yoga leggings actually weren’t initially on my list, but I felt them when I was in the store and they seemed so comfortable. I’m going to be completely honest with you – they are definitely comfortable, but I don’t think they are worth the price (even on sale). They are very similar to Aerie’s leggings. If you aren’t looking to splurge, go with Aerie. I did like the unique silver color on these though, as of now Aerie doesn’t have a color like this.
I went back and forth between theses colors about a million times! I went with black because I thought it would be more of an everyday neutral. I thought this would be good for travel, pool days and errands (I am trying to be better about bringing my own bags to the mall and stores and I thought this would be perfect :))
I am still waiting for these to come in as well, but I love the cut! This cut is going to be super popular this year, and it’s perfect to wear with booties. The Nsale is a great time to grab denim! There are also some Good American options, I have a Good American review here. (Spoiler – not worth full price in my opinion, but if you did want them, it’s best to get them on sale!)
I am a huge shoe person, so I also wanted to put together a list of all the shoes on my list! If you are looking for a staple pair of over the knee boots, the pair on the left is so cute! You can click the photo to direct links to each 🙂
I did also want to point out these boots because they are similar to the pair that I got last year! They just have a bit of a more square toe. Mine are one of my all time favorite purchases, and I was so glad I grabbed them during the sale.
Also, the Ugg slippers come in lots of fun colors!
How I narrowed down my full Wishlist
Like I said, it’s easy to want to buy everything during the sale. There are so many good things! I wanted to share some of the things that were on my wish list that I didn’t end up buying. I narrowed it down by things I already had similar items to, that I didn’t feel like I would get enough use out of, or that I could find a similar (lower priced) option for. But I do still love them all!
This sweater is definitely a top seller this year, and I went back and forth on it a bunch of times. Ultimately, I decided I could find one similar at a lower price. But it’s Free People and it’s so cute!
A few more sale jackets that I love!
I also wanted to mention the Theragun because I got one for my birthday and it changed my life!! This has helped me work out areas that I’ve never been able to get. This is definitely an investment, but if you’ve been looking into getting one, it’s a great time to grab one!
I have heard great things about the lighting on this mirror, and it comes with a stand to attach your phone for filming/photos!
Be sure to follow for updates on the other items I ordered! Also be sure to follow me on Instagram @samanthastyleblog if you don’t already for try ons and restock alerts 🙂 Enjoy the sale ❤
